Azlan and IGEL aim to make 2016 the Year of the Managed Workspace

By Simon Meredith | 15th February 2016

Heathrow, 15 February 2016 – Azlan, the enterprise value added distribution business of Tech Data, is supporting the efforts of IGEL Technology, the leading provider of virtual desktop solutions, to make 2016 the Year of the Managed Workspace.

The two companies will be working together to ensure that IGEL partners can meet the needs of the growing number of enterprises looking to implement virtualised desktop infrastructures and working practices. According to report published by MarketsandMarkets last year*1 the global workspace as a service (WaaS) market is set to grow at a CAGR of 14.6 percent between 2014 and 2019, to $9.41 billion.

IGEL will be briefing Authorised IGEL Partners (AIPs) on new marketing and training programmes and its forthcoming product roadmap at a trio of roadshows, which are taking place this month throughout the UK*2. Azlan will be supporting IGEL at these events.

The company is setting the pace in the managed workspace market with its Universal Management Suite (UMS), which allow organisations to monitor and control workspaces and devices, maximising efficiency and minimising costs. IGEL’s Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) can be used alongside UMS to convert any PC, notebook or thin client into an ‘IGEL’ client so that it can be administered using UMS.

David White, Workspace Transformation Practice Manager at Azlan, said: “Both IGEL and Azlan see exciting opportunities in the managed workspace market. Enterprise organisations are looking for ways to manage and control desktop and client devices under a single, virtualised environment and with UMS and UDC they can manage all kinds of devices through a single pane of glass. We’ll be working with IGEL to support and educate partners and give them the tools they need to drive new business.”

Ainsley Brooks, UK and Ireland Sales Director for IGEL Technology added: “IGEL has a very clear vision and strategy, which we’re now sharing and taking forward with our channel partners. We want to make 2016 the Year of the Managed Workspace. Azlan’s support and expertise will help us to do that and ensure our AIPs have access to the solutions and support they need to grasp their opportunities.”

Azlan is already a strong player in the virtual desktop market and is the leading UK distributor for Dell Wyse thin clients. IGEL recently announced that UDC now allows businesses to convert from the Dell Wyse 5000 and 7000 series into standardised IGEL desktops, so they can be fully managed by UMS as part of a unified workspace.

Azlan’s Technical and Services practice offers professional pre-sales consultancy and expertise in IGEL solutions to resellers and can also provide partners with access to full demonstration capabilities at its Business Solutions Centre (BSC) facility in Heathrow. This is equipped with the very latest data centre and infrastructure technologies and software and can be used by Azlan’s customers free of charge to run customer demonstrations.
