Azlan’s Business Solutions Centre equipped with NVIDIA’s virtual GPU enabling partners to demonstrate demanding graphics apps in multiple virtual workspaces for the first time

Heathrow, 20 April 2016 – Azlan, the enterprise value added distribution business of Tech Data, is offering its partners the opportunity to demonstrate high definition graphics software being  used in Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop virtual mobile workspaces, after installing the latest NVIDA graphics card in its Business Solutions Centre (BSC).

The NVIDIA GRID vGPU™ is the industry’s first hardware virtual GPU. It allows multiple virtual machines to directly access the graphics processing power. A full virtual desktop environment can be shown in high definition, running multiple VMs, with complete application compatibility and giving each user exactly the same experience they would get on a physical device.

Deploying the NVIDIA card massively enhances the appeal of Citrix’s virtual workspace software and opens up significant added potential for resellers. An architect or engineer working on a construction site, for example, could use XenDesktop on their tablet or laptop to access the full graphics capability of centralised CAD and design applications. Until now, the experience of virtual desktop remote users had been constrained by the limitations on graphics performance.

Phil King, Solutions Practice Director at Azlan, said: “The BSC is a very impressive resource, which resellers can use to make a really great impression on their customers and prospects. With the ability to demonstrate a true graphics workstation experience through XenApp and XenDesktop in high definition, it is even better. The number of potential applications is massive and so therefore, are the opportunities. As far as we are aware, very few demonstration facilities in the UK have this capability, so we’re pretty excited about it.”

The combination of NVIDIA and Citrix technologies allows end-user customers to deliver mobile workspaces that will meet the need the needs of the most demanding users, making 2D and 3D applications highly responsive and delivering exceptional performance advantages in addition to the productivity, management and cost-reduction benefits delivered by XenDesktop.

Azlan has identified the mobile workspace and virtual desktop as a key area of growth potential for partners. It is working closely with Citrix to ensure that resellers have every opportunity to take advantage of rising customer interest the virtual environments. “This further investment in the BSC is a demonstration of how committed we are to helping our partners to demonstrate and deliver effective solutions to their end user customers”, said King.

The BSC brings together the very latest enterprise hardware and software solutions from a range of leading vendors. It enables resellers to demonstrate the very latest enterprise solutions in a working environment and can also be used for sales and technical training. The BSC is located in Langley, Berkshire, to the north-west of Heathrow Airport, close to the intersection of the M4 and M25.

Resellers are able to call upon the expertise of Azlan’s experts within its Solutions Practice to assist them with the design, set-up and running of demonstrations in the BSC, which can also be used for customer and partner training.
