Zyxel Networks provides elevated 2.5G performance for small businesses and prosumers

New cloud-managed switches come with high-powered PoE++ and 10G options, delivering seamless, high-speed connectivity with effortless management in a space-saving package.

Hsinchu, Taiwan, January 8, 2024 — Zyxel Networks, a leader in delivering secure, AI-powered cloud networking solutions, today launched the XMG1915 series – a family of smart managed switches designed to provide small businesses and professional home users (prosumers) with the throughput and versatility needed to support today’s high bandwidth applications and services.

With the growth in hybrid and home working, high-definition video content, and the use of cloud services, small businesses (SBs) and prosumers need much higher throughput capabilities on the network. In addition, increased Power over Ethernet (PoE) budgets are required to support the latest wireless technologies, IP surveillance cameras and connected devices on the network edge.

The XMG1915 series is designed to meet these changing requirements. Available in 8 and 16-port models, they provide 2.5 Multi-Gigabit Ethernet capability across all ports. There are also 10G uplinks for connections to the network core, and PoE++ options that will provide as much as 60W to a connected device. Flexible cloud management makes the switches easy to deploy and manage.

Mr Kell Lin, Senior Associate Vice President of Zyxel Networking Strategic Business Unit, said: “For small businesses, content creators and prosumers, changing work patterns, the increased bandwidth demands of modern applications and services, and the growing number of devices being used on the network edge are a significant challenge. The XMG1915 series provides them with a fast, versatile, and cost-effective solution, with the added benefit of simple deployment and management options through our Nebula cloud management platform.”

With Nebula, the switches can be pre-configured and installed automatically. The XMG1915 series can also be monitored and managed remotely and easily with the Nebula app.

Mighty performance in a small box
All downlink ports on the XMG1915 operate at 2.5G speed, ensuring seamless connectivity for a wide array of connected devices, such as WiFi 6/6E/7 APs, multi-gigabit networks, IP cameras, and NAS devices. Two 10G uplink ports ensure that sufficient bandwidth is always available to prevent bottlenecks and ensure that higher-speed devices can be used to their full potential.

The inclusion of 60W PoE++ support [1] across eight ports accommodates high-power devices and simplifies installations. The total PoE budget of 130W/180W provides sufficient power at a competitive price for a small business, removing the need to invest in an excessive PoE budget that is often wasted. Users can also leverage their existing Cat 5 cables, eliminating the need for any costly re-cabling.

The XMG1915 also features a smaller design – it’s at least half the size of most 2.5G switches on the market, making it ideal for use on desktops or confined workspaces.

Silent and energy-saving fanless design
Engineered for optimal performance, the XMG1915 series boasts a fanless design with robust hardware heat dissipation, ensuring silent operation while conserving energy. The XMG1915-8E/8EP models are entirely fanless, while the XMG1915-18EP is equipped with a whisper-silent fan.

Flexible cloud management
Created to be cloud manageable through Zyxel Networks’ Nebula platform, the XMG1915 series allows users to easily onboard devices through the Nebula app, with QR code scans for rapid network setup. Users can seamlessly manage their connectivity and security from anywhere, via a single pane of glass, and receive an up-to-date view of their network posture at a glance.

Remote management capabilities empower users to oversee switches and reboot connected devices from anywhere, without requiring physical presence. There is also a Loop Prevention feature that further supports its hassle-free operation by auto-detecting and resolving configuration-related issues. Standalone management is also available for those who require the option to manage their switches on-premises.

TD SYNNEX Net Zero Academy will equip channel companies to conduct their own net carbon impact assessments

Three-day course will enable resellers to assess scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and set out a realistic plan to take their own business towards net zero carbon

Basingstoke, 11 December 2023 – TD SYNNEX (NYSE: SNX) has announced the launch of the Net Zero Academy – a three day course that will enable partners – or any other channel company – to conduct a full assessment of their own carbon impact and to formulate and execute a plan to move their business towards net zero carbon.

The Net Zero Academy will consist of two days spent in the classroom at TD SYNNEX’s offices in Basingstoke and a further day of home or office-based learning and assessment. The course will be accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and delivered by specialist consultancy, Arete Zero Carbon.

Sophia Haywood-Atkinson, business unit director, services, UK, TD SYNNEX, said: “The Net Zero Academy will give channel partners a simple, quick and effective way to acquire the knowledge they need to take ownership of their responsibility to reduce their carbon emissions. It will equip them to make a proper carbon assessment of their own business and set out a realistic plan to reduce emissions – based on recognised industry standards – and move towards net zero.

“That’s increasingly important now as customers are looking much harder at the commitment of their suppliers to sustainability. Regulations and directives such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)1, and the NHS PPN 06/21 directive2, for example, are starting to come into force. Businesses that do not meet these requirements could find themselves at a significant competitive disadvantage.”

Dr Stephen Finnegan, managing director of Arete Zero Carbon, added: “There is a real need for IT channel companies to get an understanding of where they are with respect to their carbon footprint and exactly how far they need to travel to achieve net zero. The three-day course will give them the fundamental knowledge they need to make a good assessment and formulate a plan. It’s something we believe all IT businesses will need to do very soon now. As well as being the right thing to do, it will increasingly make commercial sense.”

While TD SYNNEX and Arete Zero Carbon already offer a full Net Zero Carbon Assessment service to partners, the Net Zero Academy provides a more accessible option. Partners that attend the course will be able to get specialist expert support from TD SYNNEX and Arete as they conduct their assessments and formulate their plans.

Each three-day Net Zero Academy will cover the fundamentals of NZC, including UK and EU policy and regulation, governance and accountability for net zero, and how to build a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory. It will follow the established principles and definitions set out by the GHG protocol for scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.

Partners will be instructed on how to identify and record emissions factors and activity data and how to develop a Net Zero Decarbonisation Plan with defined targets and reporting methods.

It will explain how partners can apply to be accredited under the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and what to expect when they apply. Options for decarbonisation – in the supply chain, purchasing, transport, waste, and buildings – and best practice and recommendations for carbon offsetting will be explored.

At the end of the course, partners will receive an official IEMA Certificate.

Notes

1 – The CSRD is an EU initiative that many or most UK companies are also expected to follow. Any that do business in Europe will be compelled to meet its requirements. From January 2024, large companies listed on EU-based stock markets will need to report regularly on their ESG and will need to include details such as their current scope 1, 2 and 3 impacts. The regulations will be applicable to all companies from the start of 2026.

2 – From April 2023, the NHS has been following the requirements set out by the government’s  PPN 06/21 directive. This stipulates that, for every procurement with a value above £5 million per year, the NHS would require the supplier to have a Carbon Reduction Plan in place and be committed to reaching net zero by 2050. From April 2024, a further level has been added to this, requiring that suppliers for contracts with a value of £10,000 or more to have a demonstrable Net Zero Commitment. In TD SYNNEX’s recent Direction of Technology report, the number of partners offering AI/ML solutions skyrocketed by 625 percent globally, and in North America, AI/ML is the top technology skill partners are looking to hire for in the coming months.

“Our enterprise and ISV partners are increasing their AI solution offerings and are looking for enablement and training tools to support that rapid growth and address the challenges that often come up. This vision AI platform fills a critical role in that process,” said Lisa McGarvey, VP, Data, AI & IoT Solutions, North America, TD SYNNEX. “With the Intel Geti platform as part of our Destination AI program, we are adding another innovative solution to the robust AI tools, enablement and services that we are providing for our partners.”

TD SYNNEX launches Financial Services Industry Ecosystem

Group will bring together ISVs, financial market specialists and partners with complementary skills to develop and market new solutions and services

Basingstoke, 29 November 2023 – TD SYNNEX (NYSE: SNX) has launched an industry ecosystem community for financial services with the aim of bringing ISVs and businesses that have specialist expertise, applications or services, together with partners that have access to markets.

The first official meeting was held at IBM’s prestigious York Road location in London earlier this month, with an initial core group of interested parties gathering to discuss strategic objectives and a plan of action. Presenters included: Lee Armstrong, director ecosystems and global system integration, UK and Ireland at IBM; Ian Lyon, global technology sales in finance and banking at IBM; and Yusuf Budeiri, senior client technical professional for IBM Sterling, the vendor’s advanced supply chain solution for financial services.

The next stage will see key players working together to organise the first large-scale event aimed at ISVs, solutions and service providers, end user organisations and other interested partners. This is currently scheduled to take place in April 2024.

Neil Cornish, Ecosystems Business Manager at TD SYNNEX, said: “It’s great to get the financial services industry ecosystem up and running. The initial meeting was extremely productive and we are all looking forward to bringing together interested parties with different perspectives, skills, and capabilities as we expand and develop the ecosystem.

“Financial services organisations have extremely diverse needs and with the exciting new developments we are now seeing in generative AI and in data analytics, there is huge potential to create new and differentiated solutions and to drive additional value for customers.”

Helping financial services organisations to meet regulatory and compliance needs is another major area of opportunity, he added. “One of the big talking points at our first meeting was around DORA – the Digital Operational Resilience Act, the requirements of which all financial services organisations will need to meet by the start of 2025. It will also impact third party providers, and many will need help to become fully compliant, creating new opportunities for partners to work together to address these requirements.”

The Financial Services Industry Ecosystem is the seventh to be launched by TD SYNNEX in the UK. Three others cover other industry sectors – Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Retail and Distribution. The remaining three are technology ecosystems, focused on Sustainability, Cybersecurity and on Red Hat containerised solutions. They are all operating successfully with regular gatherings and workshops taking place.

Since the first ecosystem (Healthcare) was launched, there has been a real shift in attitudes, said Cornish. “Four years ago, if we’d have asked a group of partners at one of our meetings if they were collaborating with any other organisations to deliver solutions, we’d have drawn a blank. Today, we would always expect to see multiple relationships already in place or in development. There is a recognition that as requirements become more complex no single partner can do it all for every customer. And, over the past four years, one major change has taken place between participating partners – trust.

“By creating these ecosystems, we are bringing together businesses with different skill sets and capabilities, accelerating collaboration and partnership within the channel. By participating in events and round tables, trust grows between partners. This approach is working in all the six areas we’ve already launched and I’m confident it will also work very well in financial services.”
