Basingstoke, 28 February 2018 –Tech Data (Nasdaq: TECD) has declared its recent Oracle Partner Update Briefing (PUB), which took place the City of London an unqualified success and is putting plans in place to run the event on a regular basis.

More than 60 current and prospective Oracle partners attended and when Tech Data and Oracle personnel are included, there were over 100 people at the event. As well as hearing about Oracle’s plans for the year ahead and its latest solutions and developments, partners were given the chance to meet senior team members, including Rob Tomlin, Managing Director of Tech Data Advanced Solutions UK&I, and Simon Hill, Head of UKI Alliances and Channels at Oracle.

With Oracle now well into the second half of its FY2018 (ending 31 May), it was the perfect time to learn about the company’s plans to finish the year on a high and boost its partners’ sales, said Tomlin.  “Oracle is a key strategic partner for Tech Data Advanced Solutions and we have unrivalled expertise in its solutions and services. We want to work with Oracle partners to help them grow and develop their skills and their business. This was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate that commitment and for Oracle partners to learn about our business and how we can help them achieve their ambitions.

“It’s important for us to stay in touch with the needs of our customers and ensure that there is always a good and positive two-way exchange of information and feedback. The PUB gathering was a good opportunity for us to do that with our Oracle partners – it was a great success and certainly something we’ll be repeating on a regular basis.”

For Oracle, Simon Hill, Head of UK and Ireland Alliances and Channels, stated: “Oracle was pleased to support Tech Data Advanced Solutions in bringing many current and prospective Oracle partners together for this event. It was a good opportunity for Oracle and Tech Data Advanced Solutions to jointly brief Oracle Partners on Oracle’s current priorities plus future plans and to get face-to-face feedback on how all parties can work closer together to strengthen and advance our partnerships and our business. I am already looking forward to the next PUB!”

Resellers who attended provided positive feedback on the event. Tracy Monday, Commercial Director, Xynomix, said: “This was a great event managed and hosted by Tech Data for their Oracle MSP and reseller community. Oracle is an important vendor for Xynomix and this was a great opportunity to catch up and see that Oracle’s plans and vision for the rest of this year and beyond align with our business objectives, and more importantly, support the needs of our customers.  Content was presented at just the right level and was insightful, informative and interesting. It was well organised, a great venue and a perfect opportunity to network with Oracle, Tech Data and industry colleagues.”

Simon Goodenough, CEO at dsp, added: “It was a really interesting and informative session. As well as getting a useful update on Oracle Infrastructure, Cloud, and MySQL and Linux solutions, we were able to meet and talk to key people from both Tech Data Advanced Solutions and Oracle, so it was time very well spent.”

The Tech Data Advanced Solutions team is already planning its next Oracle PUB event, which it plans to run in the midlands or the north. Full details will be announced in due course. Current or prospective Oracle partners should email bernadette.wilson@techdata.co.uk to register their interest in attending.
