Basingstoke, 28 April 2019Tech Data (Nasdaq: TECD) has expanded capacity at its Magna Park Configuration Centre and is now capable of providing tailored build-to-order and pre-shipment set-up, imaging and testing on orders of up to 10,000 units a month.

Customised builds for servers, desktops and laptops from all leading manufacturers can be provided, with complete operating system and software images pre-loaded and all systems quality tested before shipment. If required, products can be shipped directly to customer locations.

In addition, the Tech Data Configuration Centre’s electrostatic discharge (ESD) room environment is the only one to hold a Cisco Level 6 Accreditation in the UK. Tech Data has a complete build-to-order and soak testing capability for Cisco UCS systems and is able to build and ship customised systems within 24 hours of orders being placed.

Kevin Wragg, Endpoint Solutions Operations Director, UK, Tech Data said: “The Configuration Centre at Magna is probably one of our best-kept secrets. It’s a state-of-the-art facility and with expanded capacity we can now provide services of the highest quality on even the very largest orders – whether they are for advanced servers, special notebook configurations, or simple desktops with some additional memory or disk.”

The Cisco capability is particularly impressive, he added. “Having such a precisely-controlled environment means we can assure customers that systems are built and tested to the highest level, so they, in turn, can be sure of delivering the performance and quality their customers expect.”

Asset tagging is another important value-added capability of the Configuration Centre. The growth in mobility and working at home is permeating every part of the commercial and public sectors and as business processes and working practices evolve through digital transformation, the trend is accelerating even more.

Kevin Wragg stated: “Almost every piece of equipment sold to large organisations needs to be asset-tagged and we can provide a complete service. We have six different asset tag printers. It’s inexpensive, reliable and effective – and a great way for our customers to add value and boost services revenues.”

Tech Data can also provide drop-shipment to any UK or Ireland address, he added, which is particularly useful given the continuing long-term trend towards home working.
