  • Innovative programme has already picked up two industry awards

Basingstoke, 12 April 2018 – Tech Data Corporation (Nasdaq: TECD) has received a resoundingly positive response to its innovative and ground-breaking Tech-as-a-Service programme, with high levels of interest and engagement from resellers and significant business already secured.

The initiative has gained immediate independent recognition, securing the awards for Innovative Service from Mobile News and the CRN’s Innovative Project Award.

Originally developed and piloted in the UK, Tech-as-a-Service provides a simple way for resellers to offer their customers hardware, software and services as a complete package on a subscription basis. It offers high residual values on hardware and enables resellers to provide a complete lifecycle management process to their customers.

For end-user customers, Tech-as-a-Service allows them to adopt the latest technologies immediately, without having to find the budget to make up-front capital investments. Resellers can also add their own services offerings, such as installation, training, maintenance and support, as part of the overall subscription, and thus meet all their customers’ needs.

Since the programme was officially launched at the end of November 2017, Tech Data has seen the number of enquiries and requests for quotations rising steadily as more resellers learn about the scheme and its benefits. Tech Data is already looking to expand its business development team to meet demand for further information, support and education.

Matt Child, Managing Director Endpoint Solutions UK and Ireland for Tech Data, said: “We have come out of the blocks really fast with Tech-as-a-Service. We created it to meet the growing enthusiasm amongst IT buyers for subscription-based consumption. We could see the opportunity to extend that model to hardware and further to that, to bring all IT solutions and services together into one complete offering. We’re pleased to say that we have received an overwhelmingly positive response, with several important pieces of business secured already and more prospective deals in the pipeline.

“We’re fielding a lot of requests for more information and quotations and we have already expanded the team to provide more support to resellers and help them understand how Tech-as-a-Service works – for them and for their customers”, said Child.

The Tech-as-a-Service proposition covers every aspect of the solution lifecycle – from acquisition through to deployment, management, and end-of-life recycling – under a single agreement with flexible payment options. It enables resellers to offer a genuine alternative way of funding IT investment and thus differentiate their business and position themselves as trusted advisors.

Tech Data has aligned the programme with vendor product strategies, ensuring that resellers can maximise their accreditations and rebates. Tech-as-a-Service is available to all Tech Data resellers in the UK and is compliant with key education, government and corporate regulations.
