Offering focused on outdoor sports and fitness consumer retail market
BARCELONA, Spain, July 14, 2021 – Tech Data today announced a European distribution agreement with Suunto, a global leader in connected sports watches, dive computers and precision instruments. This agreement enables partners across Tech Data’s European footprint to access and offer Suunto’s consumer-focused range of outdoor sports and fitness products.
According to recent IDC research, the European wearable market saw strong year-on-year growth in Q1 2021 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.9 percent from 2020 to 2025. This growth is especially fuelled by increasing consumer interest in technology products that connect and integrate with leading third-party sports and leisure applications. Tech Data is expanding its portfolio of specialised mobile and consumer electronics lifestyle solutions to enable our partners to address this emerging opportunity.
Luc van Huystee, vice president for Mobility and Consumer Electronics Solutions at Tech Data said: “Suunto’s products cater to the growing demand for impeccably designed digital devices that combine data connectivity and integration with leading specialist leisure and sports applications. We look forward to extending Suunto’s reach beyond its existing customer base through our extensive partner ecosystem of leading retailers through the specialisation, strength and scale of our sales teams, digital marketing and ecommerce platforms, and central supply chain across the region.”
“We’re excited to enter this partnership as it offers Suunto a way to increase efficiency, improve our order fulfilment capability and thus business scalability to match our growth ambitions in consumer electronics channels. Our new partnership with Tech Data is also a logical continuum for the recently announced brand independence policy of our parent company Amer Sports”, said Heikki Norta, CEO, Suunto.
