Enhanced offering is part of a push to underline services capabilities and support partners in meeting customer needs and extending their value-added capabilities

Basingstoke, 21 February 2022Tech Data, a TD SYNNEX (NYSE: SNX) company, is offering an extended service to partners that makes it easy and cost effective for partners to offer installation and maintenance services on power protection solutions.

A number of different options for service and maintenance can be provided to – or on behalf of – partners by Tech Data, from single-room systems to large-scale data centres and multiple sites. The service covers all makes and models of UPS and Tech Data can also provide the installation of backup generators, cooling system and fire suppression equipment, as well as battery replacements.

Maintenance options include fast response times to emergency call-outs, preventative maintenance visits (in or out of normal working hours), 24/7 support and remote monitoring.

The enhanced service options are a response to a growing need amongst partners, said Mark Glasspool, services director at Tech Data, UK. “We’ve been receiving more requests for support and maintenance cover for power supplies. We have always had the capability to install and service UPS devices, and we’ve now extended it significantly and with these added options we can cover virtually any scenario.

“End-user customers of all sizes are more dependent than ever on their IT systems and with the skills shortage impacting both end-user and reseller partners, there is a much greater need for a trusted advisor and service provider partner that can step in and take care of essential tasks, while full-time IT staff and technicians focus on other, more complex and involved matters.”

The extension of the power installation and maintenance services is part of a wider drive by Tech Data to provide a broad framework of support services, which partners can call upon to extend their own capabilities and offer more to customers. Tech Data is making further significant investments in this area in 2022.

“Our existing services are probably our best kept secret’, said Mark Glasspool. ‘We have always offered config’ services, for example, but we’ve been largely reactive. We’ve updated and simplified those services, invested in resource and streamlined processes, so we can work more closely with partners on opportunities. We have capacity to grow that business significantly and that’s going to be a fantastic opportunity for our partners, and we will also be bringing forward some new offerings.”

Services already on offer include pre-delivery configuration, virtual warehousing, bill-and-hold (supply chain management), third-party logistics (3PL), and managed print. Further developments this year will see the portfolio extended to include additional installation and maintenance services, and retail merchandising.

In addition, Tech Data’s Tech-as-a-Service provides subscription options on any combination of hardware, software and services (provided by Tech Data or the partner) and its Trade-in Tech Data Renew services enable partners to offer customers residual values on old equipment and verified refurbishment and recycling of equipment.
