- Partner event will focus on the need for the IT industry to deliver greener solutions
- Attention will be drawn to changing customer preferences
- Recycling and lifecycle services will be featured prominently
Basingstoke, 05 September 2019 – Tech Data (Nasdaq: TECD) will put the emphasis on sustainability at its Tech Data Live partner event, which takes place at Ascot Racecourse later this month. The company is using recyclable materials, minimising the use of paper and taking other measures that aim to keep the carbon footprint of the event as low as possible.
In addition, it will be highlighting its capability to enable resellers in supporting the full lifecycle of products through its Tech-as-a-Service and TD Renew services.
Debbie Gomez, Head of Marketing, Endpoint Solutions, Tech Data UK, said: “More end-user customers are now asking about the carbon footprint and sustainability of solutions. They want to know about how the products are made and what environmental impact they will have. We are now providing more information on these aspects to partners and decided to highlight the importance of sustainability at Tech Data Live to get our partners thinking and talking about the issue.”
While this trend is presently most noticeable amongst health service and public sector customers, more commercial customers also want to know about the green side of solutions, she noted. “The NHS is leading the way, but it is growing fast across all sectors and resellers now need to be ready to address any questions that their clients might have around the carbon footprint and sustainability of solutions. At Tech Data Live we’ll be highlighting some of the ways we and our vendor partners can help them to do that.”
One of the guest speakers at the event will be Mark Dempsey, Sustainability Manager at HPI. Resellers will also be able to see HPI’s Carbon Footprint Calculator for printing in action. In the ten zones that partners will be able to explore at the event, the use of paper is being minimised. Instead of picking up literature, visitors will be able to use QR codes to request digital information.
In each of the zones – which will highlight a key aspect of Tech Data’s business or area of opportunity – there will be dedicated information highlighting the positive impact that particular technology can have on the environment – or ways in which carbon footprint can be minimised or eliminated. The Smart Meetings zone for example, will focus on how collaboration and conferencing can reduce the need for travel. Follow-up activity for each zone will aim to ensure that the carbon impact of the event is offset as much as possible.
Attendees will also be able to find out more about Tech Data’s Tech-as-a-Service and TD Renew offerings, which provide simple ways for end-user customers to stay up-to-date and make use of the very latest technologies, and recycle old kit in accordance with regulations and environmental standards, thus maximising value and minimising the impact of their technology consumption.
The broader business focus of Tech Data Live will be customer obsession. Partners that attend will get the opportunity to learn about the many different ways in which Tech Data can act as their trusted advisor and enabler for emerging technologies and solutions, and support their efforts to grow sales, increase profits, reduce costs and drive higher levels of customer satisfaction.
The entire UK and Ireland senior management team will be present and while there will be some short presentations and workshops, most of the event will be an open forum, in which customers can mingle with Tech Data and vendor personnel throughout the day.
Tech Data Live is free for all Tech Data customers to attend. Last year’s inaugural event took place at Mercedes Benz World, where over 600 delegates gathered to take part in 24 breakout sessions and mingle in the open-plan exhibition area, making new contacts and strengthening relationships. To accommodate additional numbers, this year’s event will take place at Ascot Racecourse and will be held on Thursday 26 September 2019.
